When I first signed up for the Pasadena Marathon, I thought it was going to be a great opportunity to run a full marathon on my own. It would be nearly five hours of me, my thoughts and my music... just one man running. Now, as I approach the thirty day mark, I am realizing that this is going to be a very different run than I first imagined.
Action 344 - Represent The Marine Corps. First, by the time I cross the start line, I will have raised at least $1,775 for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. That means that my friends had enough faith in me to believe that I can run 26.2 miles and earn those donations. Second, I will be running each mile in honor of a different Marine killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. And third, it looks promising that I will be wearing Bib #1775 for the run.
Those connections all have me seeing this race very differently now. I will not be running alone. I may be on my own physically, but I will feel the spirit of the Marine Corps with me every step of the way. And I will run strong and true to the very best of my ability.
Semper Fi.
