New Music Friday

Another week, another chance to find out what cool new music has been dropped into my e-lap by the folks at Apple Music.

New Music Friday

There has been so much new, amazing music, and I have been so delayed in sharing any of it with you. But I'm making up for that today in a big way. Here, in no particular order, are all of the best new songs that have come to me via the scientists/engineers/magicians at Apple Music.

New Music Friday

Another Friday, another chance to share some great music brought to me (and then you) by the musical minds and magical algorithms at Apple. Here we go!

First up is Chord Overstreet. You might recognize him as Sam on the TV show, Glee. Mostly I remember that he's super hot.

Anyway, he's now all about the music and has released another track called Beautiful Disaster. It's a good song that hits all the feels, so give it a listen.

Another song I'm loving this week is Focus by slenderbodies and Tim Atlas. I first heard of this group with their first song here on Apple Music, and the second track is pretty great, too.

And last but not least is a new-to-me band called oh the joy. It's instrumental and beautiful and I loved it so much that I created a new Apple playlist just for them. I'll be listening to them most of the weekend, I expect.

And that's it for this week. See you next Friday!

New Music Friday

Another Friday, another chance to share some great music brought to me (and then you) by the musical minds and magical algorithms at Apple. Here we go!

Here's another artist that I have never heard of but like immediately. She's Astrid S and the track is Hurts So Good.

I have heard of Nick Box, but only recently and also through an Apple Music suggestion. This track is Winterlake and it's hauntingly beautiful. I love it.

And finally, we have new music from X Ambassadors. I've heard and like a couple of songs, but this is new music and I really appreciate it. It stays with you long after it's gone. It's called Blinding Lights and I was surprised to learn it's a cover of a song by The Weeknd.

And that's it for this week. See you next Friday!

New Music Friday

Another Friday, another chance to share some great music brought to me (and then you) by the musical minds and magical algorithms at Apple. Here we go!

I'm a fan of Daughtry and have been since I first heard him sing on American Idol. I know he's a weird mix of pop and rock but I'm a fan and won't apologize for it. His newest single is Heavy Is The Crown and I really like it. It sounds like all of his other stuff, sure, but I like that sound.

I have no idea how I am just now learning about Mathew V but I'm really glad I am. He's got an amazing library of music, but Around Here is the first song of his that I've heard. He sounds a bit like Sam Smith, I suppose. I like it a lot.

And then there's Empty Eyes by Munn. He's another artist I had not heard before, but he's got a lot of music out and it all sounds pretty great. I'm really happy about the Apple Music service and all of the new recommendations.

And that's it for this week. See you next Friday!

New Music Friday

It's Friday, and that means I've got more new music to share courtesy of my Apple Music suggested tunes list. We've got the well known, the somewhat known, and the unknown. Let's do this.

First up is a new track from Imagine Dragons. It took me a few listens to really get into it, but I'm a fan. It's called "Follow You" and it's a feel-good-I-gotchu-girl track with a tongue-in-cheek video. Enjoy it for the positive vibes.

In the not quite well known not quite unknown category comes a new song from Banners. I really like this band and I'm happy to find out they've got new music out. This is "If I Didn't Have You" and it's another I-gotchu song. Maybe that's my mood today. Listen and let the good mood take over.

Last up is Julie Cole. I admit, I don't remember ever hearing anything else from her. She's got a cool voice that makes me wish I was listening to her live in a little dive bar somewhere. And this track, Monster, is so great.

And that's it for this week. See you next Friday!

New Music Friday

Another Friday, another chance to share new music from my Apple Music suggested tunes list. So let me tell you a few of the tracks that played over and over today.

I definitely was not ready for Brandy Clark to get me crying first up but she did with a song about her mother, or grandmother, or some other woman who loved her and then passed on. It's a weeper, for sure.

And Kurt Hugo Schneider and Shannon K came in strong with a ballad about loss, too. It's a simple track - Anyone - but it's got a great feel to it and I kept hitting replay all day.

And last, Phillip LaRue and a track called Night Swimming. This was definitely the track of the day that kept me coming back to play it just one more time... and then, another. The music was literally a siren song. I'm anxious to find out if there's more to this artist than just a great track.

New Music Friday

It's already Friday again, and that means sharing more of the new music I'm discovering via Apple Music. Time for me to play DJ again and spin some new tracks for you.

First up is Lauren Daigle's Hold On To Me. It's a nice you-and-me-in-it-together song and it hit me with all the right feels this afternoon. I like it.

Another keeper from today's new music recommendations is "We're Good" by Dua Lipa. I'll be honest. I knew her name but couldn't tell you a single song that she sang before this one. But I really liked this track and her sound reminds me of Sophie Ellise-Bextor and her track "Murder On The Dance Floor." Dua, I'm a fan.

And last, an artist I have never heard of before today, slenderbodies, and the track "Superpowerful." Nice balance of background dance track and fun lyrics. I like it.

New Music Friday

Welcome to #NewMusicFriday. I was inspired by my own Apple Music library and the magic algorithm that gives me a new 25-song playlist every Friday morning. The app/website/magic machine analyzes the music I listen to all week and chooses new music - most newly released, some classic tunes - and drops them into a customized playlist just for me. And each Friday, I listen to that playlist a few times, delete the songs I don't care for, and then add whichever tunes remain to my larger playlist, "Apple New Tunes."

I've been doing it for nearly a year now, and my ongoing playlist has just over one thousand songs right now. And it's mostly new artists that I would never have heard if it wasn't for Apple Music and iTunes. So now, each Friday, I'm going to share a few of the highlights from this week's new tracks.

First up is country singer Carly Pearce. I haven't heard of her before today, but I guess she's had a few hits and is a rising star. Good for her. The track I heard is "Should've Known Better" and I think it's fantastic. Definitely country music and she's got a fantastic voice.

I'm also a fan of Hauskey and the song, "Go Wrong." He's an Australian named Andy and the song is all about the daily worries of a not-so-lucky guy. I dig it.

And my last new music surprise is a beautiful song from the amazing, wonderful, 80's folk/rock/blues/pop Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. I had no idea they had released a new album this year and I can't wait to listen to it all.

Read about Hunter and the Dog Star here.

And that's new music for this week. See you back here next Friday with more!
