Action 281 – Eat Like A Quaker. Oats, that is. Instant oatmeal is quick, inexpensive, comparatively healthy, and filling. I can eat two packets, take in about 260 calories, and get through most of my morning before I need another snack. It’s not a glamorous breakfast recipe with organic ingredients and fabulous presentation, but it gets the job done. At 6am each morning, that’s enough for me.
Now, if someone would just create margarita-flavored oatmeal, I would be a happy camper.
I have moved on from instant to quick prep steel cut with add ins, usually chia seeds or ground flax, pecans and fruit. Yogurt sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI can see myself getting there, once I settle in to a bit more of a routine. I know I can make it better and spend less on it.
ReplyDeleteStill can be prepared in 5 minutes. I also uses Bob's 10 grain cereal.. 1/4 cup dry makes a huge serving, and still quick.
ReplyDeleteWow, really? That's cool. I could even manage to cook that without hurting myself. :)
