Lessons in Love - Meet Alicia and Brian

Welcome to the second post in my limited series of posts that I'm calling "Lessons in Love." It's my way of recognizing and celebrating the friends in our lives that have created amazing and inspiring long-term relationships. And they've all been kind enough to share a little lesson or two that has helped make their love last. So let's talk about love.

Today, you get to meet my friends of more than thirty years, Alicia and Brian.

When did you become a couple?

April 12, 1986

What makes your relationship work so well?

We made a conscious decision at the very beginning that this was it for both of us and no matter what, we would work at our relationship. It hasn’t always been easy, we have seen as much sorrow as joy but we are both completely committed to the other. We try to make each other laugh every day!

What relationship advice would you offer others?

No one is perfect, forgive the other and yourself.  

These two are amazing human beings, both military veterans, devoted spouses, and amazing parents and grandparents. They are great people and we're all better because we know them. Congrats on your beautiful lives together and we all wish you so many more still to come.
