"Make yourself proud."

 

I think the most important of the three words here is “MAKE." It takes a lot of work to be proud of yourself, for good reason. John can be proud of the work he has put in! First off, you have to be honest and sincere. You have to be doing things for others for the right reason, not for self-glorification. You do things to help other people because it’s the right thing to do. You also have to be consistent, and practice what you preach. Hypocrites have nothing to be proud of. You also have to do it humbly and quietly, braggarts have no real justified pride, it’s just a show to hype themselves. John helps others simply because it’s the right thing to do. He works hard at MAKING himself proud, because the work is the right thing to do.
