Some Gave All.

On the Fourth of July, we celebrate our nation's independence. On Veteran's Day, we honor all those who have served in defense of this great nation. But Memorial Day is the highest day of them all, because it is on this day that we remember not the joy of freedom, but the cost. All that we have and all that we are is defended, secured and guaranteed by the men and women who have paid the ultimate price.

So I understand and appreciate your sincere "Happy Memorial Day" greeting, but know that for me this day is not about happiness. It is about service, sacrifice, and a nation's heartfelt and sincere gratitude for those who gave all.
